The Adirondack Canoe Classic — AKA the 90-Miler — is an Adirondack tradition dating back over four decades. Hosted by the Northern Forest Canoe Trail, this annual event takes paddlers from Old Forge to Saranac Lake, the first 90 miles of the Northern Forest Canoe Trail. Registration for the 2026 90-Miler opened on Wednesday, July 1, and is now full.

ADIRONDACK CANOE CLASSIC FOUNDERS CUP: Recognizes the contributions of those who work hard behind the scenes to make the Adirondack Canoe Classic happen. Jason Smith, owner of Adirondack Lakes and Trails Outfitters in Saranac Lake, NY. Jason is the volunteer coordinator of the 90-Miler Boat Haulers Guild that transports the boats from the finish to the start of day 1 and day 2 during the 90.
TERRY HEALEY AWARD: Selected by NYSDEC staff and presented in memory of one of the original DEC employees who cajoled, prompted, rewarded and had the most fun with the organizing of the 90-Miler. Awarded to the person who best exemplifies the spirit of the Adirondack Canoe Classic. Chris DiCintio was a 26-year veteran of the NYSDEC forest rangers who died in July. He made a career out of helping complete strangers and protecting the public and private lands of New York by fighting wild fires. All while sharing his sense of humor and infectious smile.
PETE CLARK AWARD: Selected by current year guideboat participants. Presented in memory of a long time 90-Miler guideboat participant who, even in the face of tremendous personal adversity, found multiple ways to have fun and inspire all who had the pleasure of his company on and off the water. Awarded to the rower who best exemplifies the spirit of fun and camaraderie during the 90-Miler. Frank Sapere and Nick Garcia teamed up as the Guidebook Pirates. Nick and Frank were honored for their perseverance and their love of the 90. The pair have repeatedly finished 90s after breaking oars. Despite these setbacks, they have keep their spirits high and outlook positive to have a strong relationships with other racers.
REYNOLDS CUP: Selected by event organizers. Presented in memory of Dick Reynolds, who loved paddling the 90, especially with his daughter Holly. Awarded to a parent-child team that plays hard, plays fair and has fun together on and off of the water. Max Eaton and 11-year-old Eloise. The father-daughter pair paddled 90 miles with smiles on their faces and an extremely positive attitude. Max is owner of GRBmax in Wilmington, N.Y. and writes children's books.
GOLDSTEIN PADDLE: Presented to the winners of the super veterans class — paddlers over 75 years of age. Awarded in memory of Norm Goldstein, a 29-time finisher, 2013 Terry Healey Award recipient and principal instigator of the super veterans class. Norm portrayed the true spirit of the 90 — soft spoken words of encouragement, infectious enthusiasm and eagerness to help anyone and everyone. John Marona, a long-time paddler and resident of the northern Adirondacks. John can be found most days of the paddling season in his Placid Boatworks canoe exploring the St. Regis Canoe Wilderness and other nearby waterways.

Hosted by the Northern Forest Canoe Trail
The Northern Forest Canoe Trail is proud to organize and host the 90-Miler. As a 501c3 nonprofit organization, all proceeds generated by this event are invested back into the Adirondack portions of the canoe trail. This includes stewardship projects that enhance access points, campsites, portages and other trail infrastructure, as well as community programs like Northern Forest Explorers and the NFCT Community Paddle series.
